Manchester United’s first summer signing of 2026 is imminent.
Confirmation that the club have completed the coup of midfielder Andrey Santos from Chelsea is expected soon, after the Brazilian completed a medical.
A total package worth £50 million has been agreed between the two clubs, as Santos overtakes Ederson, whose transfer hangs in the balance, in signing for the Red Devils.
Now it’s a matter of Santos joining up with his new United teammates, and Djamel on X, who first called the Ederson transfer being off before it was reported by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, has provided an update on the new signing’s whereabouts.
The post discloses that Andrey Santos was present at the Manchester United training ground on Saturday morning, despite the club not yet confirming the signing.
However, Ederson did not take part in the training session, and will instead start training with the team on Monday July 13.
Andrey Santos will be a welcome addition at Carrington, with only current first-choice midfielder Kobbie Mainoo still away on duty with his national side, England, at the World Cup.
Michael Carrick will be hoping the two can strike up a quick partnership, but any potential bonding between the two won’t come for a while, with Mainoo in North America.
Now the focus for Manchester United’s recruitment team will turn to signing the next midfielder. Andrey Santos is through the door, next up alongside him needs to be another impressive incoming as the Red Devils prepare for a return to European Football.
