Tottenham need to make a move for AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche if they want to land the player before the transfer window shuts

Tottenham have upped their ante in the market as we approach the business-end of the transfer window. The Lilywhites are still looking for any opportunity to bolster their squad for this season. With Thomas Frank aiming to compete hard on all four fronts this season, it is important for Daniel Levy to bring in quality players to address the persisting issues on the pitch.

It is now an open an open secret that the North London club is still looking to sign a new left-winger. Daniel Levy did manage to bring Xavi Simons to N17 on a long-term deal this week. But signing the Dutchman is still not enough as Spurs look to bring in one more player before the transfer deadline at 7pm on Monday (1st August).

Manchester City winger Savinho has been on the Spurs radar for quite some time now. The Lilywhites have identified him to be the perfect player to operate on the left-flank under Thomas Frank. And the 21-year-old is also open to move to N17 before the transfer window shuts. However, Pep Guardiola considers him as a key part of the squad and the Cityzens are unwilling to sanction a move as of now.

Tottenham willing to buy AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche

It was reported earlier that Tottenham are keeping tabs on AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche. The 23-year-old has made some great strides in Ligue 1, and that has helped him earn the France National team call-up in this upcoming international break. Also, the Lilywhites view Akliouche as a perfect alternative of Savinho, in case Daniel Levy fails to land the Man City winger.

Now, the AS Monaco star has provided an update on his future amid Spurs transfer links. Speaking to Le10Sport, Akliouche said,

“We know that in football anything can happen and things move very quickly, but I feel good here at Monaco. As for the transfer window, we’ll see.”

The Frenchman added,

“You never know until the very end. You can’t know everything. There are still three days left before the window shuts. You never have any certainty anywhere. Here at Monaco, I know my surroundings. I would be happy to stay here.”

Maghnes Akliouche has not ruled out a move away from AS Monaco before the transfer window shuts, indicating that ‘anything can happen’ in the coming hours. However, the Frenchman has also suggested that he is not actively pushing for a move away from the Ligue 1 outfit. Akliouche has admitted that he would be happy to stay at Monaco for another season if no right opportunity comes by on deadline day.

Well, the ball is pretty much in Tottenham’s court now. And it is up to the Lilywhites to decide whether they want to go forward with the deal or look for other options. As of now, the North London club has not given any indications that they are looking to sign Akliouche. But there is still time remaining in the market, so do not rule out a last-minute approach for the Frenchman.
