Lautaro Martinez has admitted that swapping his boyhood team Racing Club for Inter Milan in 2018 changed his life.

Speaking to TMW via FCInterNews, El Toro also admitted he takes pride in wearing the captain’s armband at San Siro.

Lautaro Martinez attended yesterday’s ‘Gran Gala del Calcio,’ as he entered Serie A’s Best XI for the 2024/25 season.

Indeed, the 28-year-old spearheaded Inter’s busted Scudetto charge last season, scoring 12 goals in 31 league games.

Though he has been slow out of the blocks this term, the Argentine striker remains a key cog in Cristian Chivu’s system.

However, his second-half double inspired Inter to a crucial 2-0 away win over Pisa on Sunday.

As a result, he has established himself as the club’s top scorer in Serie A this season, stretching his tally to six league goals.

Furthermore, Lautaro is now the division’s joint-top scorer alongside Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini.

Lautaro Martinez Proud to Be Inter Milan Captain

“It’s an honor to be Inter’s captain,” Lautaro admitted. “Joining this club changed my life.

“I try to improve every day and learn from my teammates.

“There’s always room for improvement: results, performances, attitude – everything.

“We work every day with one goal,” Lautaro added. “We want to take Inter as high as possible.”

Chivu will likely rest his captain when Inter take on second-tier Venezia in the Coppa Italia tomorrow night.

Indeed, Francesco Pio Esposito is likely to partner up with Marcus Thuram in the final third.

Meanwhile, Ange-Yoan Bonny is at risk of missing the game due to a minor injury setback.

With a high-stakes Serie A clash against Como awaiting Inter next weekend, there’s no need to take unnecessary risks with key starters.

Therefore, Lautaro may finally get some much-needed rest after starting 12 of Inter’s 13 league matches this season.
