Arsenal are keen on signing a winger linked with Manchester United this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season starting later this year.

Arteta’s side, top of the Premier League currently, have a range of talent in the winger position including players such as Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, and Leonardo Trossard.

Manchester United also have good talent in the winger position with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Amad Diallo just three players who can play on the flanks.

With both sides likely to be in the Champions League next season, given that the Gooners are top of the Premier League and United are third, additional depth could aid both sides in adding pace in crucial moments.

The Telegraph has now revealed that Arsenal are keen on signing Leicester City winger Jeremy Monga in an effort to build their long-term picture.

Monga had previously been targeted by Manchester United who were reported to be plotting a move for him in an effort to improve their squad.

The 16-year-old has made 25 appearances in the Championship this campaign, scoring once and providing two assists.

He has faced significant time on the bench, however, as Leicester aim to escape the relegation zone in the English second tier.

The Telegraph states that the winger is seen as essential to the Foxes’ rebuild this summer with him the crown jewel that could take the side back to success.

A move from either Arsenal or Manchester United could hinder this recruitment plan, however, and may force the Foxes into looking towards alternatives that can be signed to replace the qualities that Jeremy Monga brings to the side.

Interest from both Arsenal and Manchester United would create a battle for his signature with both sides hopeful that they can hold off their competitor to secure the signing.

United have been linked with other wingers including Yan Diomande and Anthony Gordon. Whilst these options appear to be beneficial towards Manchester United, Monga could be seen as a long-term signing that would have benefits in the long-term.

Given his initial promising statistics, alongside his youth, this may be the case although Michael Carrick’s side will have to battle if they are to reap the benefits that would come with this signing.
