Atalanta continue to look towards some of Gian Piero Gasperini’s proteges to replace him, including Thiago Motta and Raffaele Palladino.
Gasperini confirmed his departure from La Dea after nine remarkable years, where he qualified repeatedly for the Champions League and won the Europa League trophy.
Now he is destined to take over at Roma, so the Bergamo boys must find a suitable replacement.
Considering how much the squad was moulded in his image, Atalanta are looking to coaches who worked under Gasperini and learned the trade following his ideas.
There are two who are now free to choose their next club, as Thiago Motta was fired by Juventus in March, while Palladino resigned from Fiorentina last week.
Both of them played under Gasperini for Genoa and decided to go into management with his all-attack principles.
Another candidate would be Ivan Juric, who was not just a player under Gasperini at Crotone and Genoa, but also his assistant manager at Inter and Palermo.
Other potential options mentioned by Sky Sport Italia are Igor Tudor, who currently looks increasingly likely to be confirmed on the Juventus bench, and Genoa’s Patrick Vieira.
Maurizio Sarri had been linked, but he opted for a return to Lazio.
