Atalanta have released Ben Godfrey to join Sheffield United on loan, while Cagliari are in talks with Marco Palestra.
Sky Sport Italia have footage of Godfrey flying out to English soil this evening, where his medical is planned tomorrow.
The 27-year-old is a versatile defender who received two senior caps for England in 2021.
He made the move from Everton to Serie A last summer for €12.5m plus bonuses, but barely set foot on the pitch for the Serie A side.
In five different competitive appearances, he was on the field for a total of 93 minutes of football.
Godfrey was then loaned to Ipswich Town for the last six months of the season.
This will be another loan, but there is not expected to be an option for Sheffield United to make it permanent.
Meanwhile, Sky Sport Italia also report that Cagliari have asked the Bergamo boys for Palestra on loan.
He can be the replacement for another former Dea player, Nadir Zortea, who was just sold to Bologna for circa €7.5m.
