Liverpool are looking to go big in the summer transfer window, keen to add legs to their midfield and replace some outgoing players in defence and attack.
One player up front is Luis Díaz, who remains linked with a move to La Liga.
As reported by Spanish outlet Sport, Liverpool forward Luis Díaz is part of a three-man Barcelona shortlist for the coming summer transfer window, the other two being Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško.
The Colombia international’s output in terms of direct goal involvements has dried of late after a scintillating start to the season. He has 12 goals and three assists from 33 appearances across all competitions this season, though he remains in Barça’s crosshairs, having been linked with a move to the Catalan giants for a few months.
Isak is another forward expected to be on the move in the summer, though the Magpies’ €100m demand may deter many suitors, especially the ever-cash-strapped Blaugrana, who are therefore also looking at Šeško. The young Slovene was being monitored by the European heavyweights well before he switched Red Bull camps to move from Salzburg to Leipzig in 2023, though he too is expected to make the switch this summer.
Diaz’s current Liverpool contract is set to run until the end of 2026/27 season.
As a short-term measure, Barça have extended Robert Lewandowski’s contract, with the veteran Pole now set to stay at Camp Nou till the end of the 2025/26 season.
How Barcelona will manage to come up with a wage package for Diaz is anyone’s guess, though it cannot be denied that there still carries enough weight for players to want to play for them, knowing fully that their salary may be a while coming.
Diaz has been linked with Barça for a while now. This season he’s also had to play a lot at centre-forward not just because that’s a slot Liverpool need to reinforce but also because Cody Gakpo has made the left-wing slot his own.

If Liverpool can manage to find the answers to their centre-forward problem, Diaz is a player they may be willing to move on and turn a profit in the process.
