Xavi Hernandez will manage his last match as Barcelona head coach on Sunday, when his side travel to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to take on Sevilla in the final match of the 2023-24 La Liga season. The club’s new era is expected to begin almost immediately after.

Xavi will be officially let go after the fixture with Los Nervionenses, and according to MD, the idea is for Hansi Flick to be announced as his successor on Monday. The 59-year-old will sign a contract for the next two seasons.

Once Flick’s arrival is official revealed, it will thereafter be determined when he will be officially unveiled by Barcelona president Joan Laporta. At this stage, no details are known, although his exposure could range from a closed-house interview with the club’s media channels to a standard press conference.

There is certainly intrigue being generated among Barcelona supporters for Flick’s impending arrival. He has a huge job on his hands to make up the deficit to Real Madrid, but it’s one that he will no doubt relish.
