Last week, Bayern Munich defeated Real Madrid 1-2 away from home at the Santiago Bernabeu. Luis Diaz and Harry Kane scored the two goals for Bayern Munich that sealed the win and gave them an advantage for the return leg.
Both teams played in their respective leagues over the weekend, with Real Madrid playing at home against Girona and Bayern Munich playing away from home against St. Pauli.
In La Liga, Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Girona. Federico Valverde scored the opener for Real Madrid in the 51st minute, but Thomas Lemar scored the equalizer for Girona in the 62nd minute.
In the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich defeated St. Pauli 0-5 away from home with goals from Jamal Musiala, Leon Goretzka, Michael Olise, Nicolas Jackson, and Raphael Guerreiro.
Bayern Munich only needs to avoid defeat to reach the Champions League semifinal. Real Madrid needs to beat Bayern Munich by at least two goals; beating Bayern by one goal takes the game to extra time.
