Benjamin Sesko is quietly winning over Manchester United fans

Manchester United surprised a lot of people by spending a whopping 85 million euros on RB Leipzig star striker Benjamin Sesko, even though he was actually the backup to underrated Belgian Lois Openda.

But Sesko had the most upside, as the Euro standout showed the clinical finishing, prowess in the air, and physical strength and athleticism to go from prospect to potential world class striker.

Prior to putting two past lowly Burnley on the 8th of January, Sesko had not scored in nearly three months, making him easy fodder for other fan bases, particularly Arsenal supporters.

Before the summer transfer window, many thought Sesko was a slam dunk to join Arsenal as their long awaited solution at the 9, while Viktor Gyokeres would join forces with Ruben Amorim again at Old Trafford.

Instead, Manchester United spent big on Sesko, whereas Gyokeres made his way to Man United. And although Man United seemed to draw the shorter end of the stick for some, the faithful fans underestood they were playing the long game with the much younger Sesko.

The 22 year old Slovenian international did not start in Man United’s latest win, a 3-2 nail biter over Fulham in the Premier League, but he did score a decisive goal in his 16 minutes off the bench.

These last three games with Michael Carrick in the manager’s chair and the wins flying, Benjamin Sesko, like many of his teammates, is quietly showing the signs of a big breakout.

Not that Manchester United supporters were ever out on him, but by coming off the bench and scoring an important goal while never causing a stir, this young man has won the fans over; they have no doubts he is a future superstar for them at striker.
