Borussia Dortmund start their Bundesliga 2026-27 season at home against Hamburger SV on Saturday, August 29 at Signal Iduna Park.

The game will provide a first test for Niko Kovac’s team following their 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup last weekend. HSV, on the other hand, have started their competitive season with a 3-0 win over Verl in the DFB-Pokal.

The match will be broadcast live on TV and streamed on the internet at 6:30 p.m. CEST at Signal Iduna Park.

Dortmund are likely to play in a 3-4-2-1 system. Gregor Kobel is the first-choice goalkeeper, with Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck and Waldemar Anton the back three.

Julian Ryerson and Daniel Svensson are likely to be wing-backs, with Felix Nmecha and Marcel Sabitzer potentially in the midfield. Julian Brandt is expected to be in the back line behind striker Serhou Guirassy.

HSV are also likely to be in a 3-4-2-1 formation. The visitors come into the game with a sense of confidence after their DFB-Pokal victory, where Albert Grønbæk scored twice and 16-year-old Louis Lemke added a goal.

Hamburger SV starting XI: Heuer Fernandes; Hadzikadunic, Vuskovic, Muheim; Mikelbrencis, Meffert, Reis, Muheim; Grønbæk, Königsdörffer; Glatzel.
