Breaking News: Chelsea Part Ways With Former Spurs Manager After 1st Season In
PA Images/Alamy Images

Chelsea is immediately looking to do better next season after a terrible 2023-2024 Premier League run. They finished mid-table, which is way out of top-three or top-five contention for Champions League and Europa League football, meaning that the Blues ended their year with nothing to show for it.

Not only did they embarrass their club, but they are losing something even more than just a waste of a year. It seems like 365 days was enough time for the gaffer to show the board of directors and owners of the football club that he was not the right man for the job.

Chelsea Manager Fired After One Year

The Chelsea manager was only given one year to prove his worth at the club – and he failed. The former Spurs man, Mauricio Pochettino, was appointed the head of Chelsea before the beginning of the EPL, hoping to turn around a disappointing few seasons at the club that saw tons of change, turmoil, and coaching assignments.

But, it was more of the same, as Chelsea suffered tough defeat after defeat, unable to score goals, play consistently, and find the ideal starting eleven to win games.

Pochettino left the club with mutual agreement, meaning that the sporting directors and the ‘former’ manager came to a deal that was fitting for both sides.

On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.

Nice words from the sporting director Laurence Stewart, but fans couldn’t help but realize the lack of personalization in the message and clear tone that he was never going to be hired back in any capacity.

And it isn’t too surprising why. He was hired before the 2023-2024 season to replace the abysmal reign under former player, Lampard, who was probably better off just being one of the PL greats instead of taking on a new coaching role. After finishing in the bottom half of the table in 12th place, it looked like things could only go up.

But, Pochettino struggled with results right from the get-go. Now, the former manager is looking for a coaching job elsewhere.

Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and sporting directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.

Chelsea for 2024-2025

More change is on the horizon for Chelsea FC, as they are looking to sell current players on their squad to free up space – and money – for new signings. Chelsea are looking at a young Brazilian sensation, Willian, who currently plays for Palmeiras. He is a teenage star who is sure to be one of the big names in football as he ages and matures in the game.

Plus, the Blues are going to sell Lukaku, one of the most prolific strikers of all time, to – we think – a Saudi team or Roma, Mourinho’s squad.

It will be interesting to see if any other key players, like Cole Palmer or Connor Gallagher, decide to stay at the club or make a move. The Transfer windows are between Friday, June 14th and Friday, 30th of August, and the second winter window is between January 1st and February 3rd.
