Bruno Fernandes contract talks hit deadlock

Bruno Fernandes has seen talks over a new Manchester United contract hit a deadlock despite his outstanding influence at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese midfielder remains one of the most important players in Michael Carrick’s squad.

Fernandes enjoyed another remarkable campaign last season and continued to carry a huge creative burden.

He registered 21 Premier League assists, breaking the single-season record previously shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.

The 31-year-old also reached over 100 goals for Manchester United and helped the club secure a return to the Champions League.

His performances strengthened the belief that United should build around him rather than consider a sale.

However, speculation over his future has continued throughout the summer.

Galatasaray have shown interest, while Al-Hilal came close to signing him last year after presenting a lucrative proposal.

Fresh claims have also suggested that United could listen to major offers, although Fernandes has repeatedly spoken about his desire to achieve more with the club.

His current contract runs until 2027, meaning Manchester United still have some protection over his future.

Even so, the lack of progress over an extension could become a growing concern.

Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United remain apart on new contract

According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari on X, Manchester United and Fernandes have still not reached an agreement over a new contract.

The report states that the latest contact between the two parties failed to produce a positive outcome.

Further meetings are expected, but there is currently no agreement in place.

Longari added that several other clubs have already contacted Fernandes’ agent as they monitor the situation.

That interest will only increase the pressure on Manchester United to find a solution.

Fernandes remains captain, first-choice number 10 and one of the most productive players in the Premier League.

Losing him would create a major hole in Carrick’s side, particularly after the club spent the summer rebuilding the midfield around new arrivals Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

For now, Fernandes remains a Manchester United player, but the next round of talks could prove decisive.
