Fabio Capello has once again commented on the current state of AC Milan, insisting that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has the potential to become a ‘great director’ in time.

Milan went into the international break with a cloud hanging over them again given that they recently lost to both Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League and Fiorentina in Serie A, making it three wins from nine to begin the new campaign under Paulo Fonseca.

The media have sharpened their pens and attacked the club over a number of things, from a lack of leadership within the squad to Fonseca’s inability to get a handle on the dressing room, especially in light of Theo Hernandez’s red card and the penalty farce that took place in Florence.

Capello was present at the Festival dello Sport to pay homage to the great Milan side of 1994 which won the league title without losing a game. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.

How important are respect and values?

“Discipline and respect were a value of my Milan, everyone had to respect each other and create a team spirit that then became victory on the field. Respect is one of the bases on which I built my work.”
