Celtic were able to secure a dramatic fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership title after winning their final seven games of the season, including all five of the split.
This triumph was in no small part thanks to South Korean winger Yang Hyun-Jun. The 23-year old scored in a 2-1 win away to Dundee, equalised against Rangers in the Old Firm, and registered an assist in the 3-2 win away to Motherwell.
As a result of these significant contributions, the forward has been rewarded and recognised by the club with a new, four year contract. He did originally have two years left on his contract, but he now has some long term security, and Celtic are able to tie down one of their important players.
Throughout the season, Hyun-Jun popped up with some important goals, finding the back of the net eight times in the Scottish Premiership. He may have only registered the one assist, but with six big chances created, he can feel a bit aggrieved by the finishing of some of his team mates.
Let’s hope for one more big performance in the Scottish Cup final against Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline side, where Celtic could secure a domestic double. Let’s see what happens.
