Adam Wharton has attracted interest from across the Premier League, including from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old, of Crystal Palace, made 34 Premier League appearances last season, scoring one goal and providing five assists.

Wharton also created 44 chances and had 15 successful dribbles during his league games in the previous campaign.

The midfielder previously broke his silence on a potential move to Manchester United, stating that he does not really look into it whilst also turning attention away from the speculation that existed.

As the summer transfer window continues, however, speculation continues to increase about where the 22-year-old could end up come the end of the window.

Manchester United has been cited as a possible location for him as the club undergoes a midfield overhaul following the departure of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte’s major injury.

Now, CaughtOffside have provided an update on the pursuit stating that Chelsea have made contact with the midfielder’s representatives surrounding a possible deal.

The publication have also stated that Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Manchester United have all cooled their interest due to Crystal Palace’s high valuation of the Englishman.

It remains to be seen whether this contact will turn into a eventual offer and possible deal.

With interest in Wharton weakened due to Palace’s asking price, United may turn their attention towards alternative targets in the middle of the park.

The club are close to the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea with the central midfielder completing his medical at the club earlier this week ahead of his official unveiling.

United have also made contact over a possible deal for Joao Gomes, of Wolves. The midfielder previously not ruled out a move to Old Trafford and would like to stay in the Premier League if he was to leave Wolves. Liverpool are also interested and have made contact, however.

Manchester United’s focus remains firmly on the transfer window with the club linked to dozens of possible players that could play at Old Trafford next season. Adam Wharton currently does not appear to be one of those, though.
