Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Brentford for September 13

This is a Chelsea predicted lineup as they face the prospect of yet another London derby in the Premier League. The Blues take on a depleted Brentford side who are still getting to grips with the major departures of Bryan Mbuemo, Yoan Wissa, and Thomas Frank over the summer. They’ve had some solid performances so this could be a banana peel game for a fatigued and potentially depleted Enzo Maresca side.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Brentford for Premier League Tie

How Chelsea Have Lined Up Recently

Robert Sanchez has been the first-choice goalkeeper with Trevoh Chalobah, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Josh Acheampong getting starts in the central area of the defence. Marc Cucurella has been undropped on the left while Malo Gusto has made the right side his own.

Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez have started in the defensive midfield pivot in every match so far. Joao Pedro, Estevao, and Pedro Neto has been the main trio behind the striker, although Jamie Gittens and Cole Palmer have started there too. Fitness has wreaked some havoc on that part of the field.

Pedro initially started as the striker before moving back for Liam Delap to play as the nine. Delap’s injury leaves a big question mark for this area of the pitch.

Chelsea Recent Form & Tactics

Maresca has set up in his fluid 4-2-3-1 system. After using the standard 3-2-4-1 to little effect in their season opener he has shifted to something similar to what we saw towards the end of the Club World Cup with the right winger drifting inside as Gusto overlaps, Cucurella becomes a chaos agent on the left as the offense forms a diamond instead of a box midfield, this leaves Caicedo almost as the lone pivot with just the centre-backs for cover.

After a disappointing draw against Crystal Palace, the Blues have been back to their best, hammering West Ham before grabbing a 2-0 win against Fulham. With two clean sheets to their name already and goals seeming to flow with their new setup we could see them charge up the table in this early-season run.

Chelsea Injuries to Consider

There are a number of headaches for the manager to juggle according to PremierInjuries. Dario Essugo was hurt on the international break, taking out one of the defensive reinforcements. Mykhailo Mudryk is still suspended, Alejandro Garnacho isn’t match fit, Palmer is still a doubt, Romeo Lavia is a doubt, Benoit Badiashile is a doubt, and Delap is confirmed to be out for roughly 10 weeks.

Caicedo, Estevao, Santos, and Pedro were also on international duty and arrived back late from South America so could be absent due to fitness issues.

Chelsea Predicted Lineup vs Brentford

This is a tough one, injuries have taken a chunk out of the team’s depth while the international break saw Reece James start twice in quick succession and the South American crew arrive late, with Bayern Munich to come on Wednesday, this might be a heavily rotated lineup.
