Chelsea set for another major squad overhaul led by new manager Xabi Alonso

Claims are being made that Chelsea are set for yet another major squad overhaul led by new manager Xabi Alonso.

The Spaniard officially starts work at Chelsea at the start of July, but it’s clear that he has already got to work at the club unofficially.

Alonso has a lot of work to do, and he is kind of being billed now as Chelsea’s only hope, Chelsea’s saviour. There is already a lot of pressure on the new manager to ‘save’ the club and bring them back to where they need to be.

The club has been awfully run the last four years under the new owners, so you’d be forgiven for thinking that it will take more than just Alonso to get them back to the top again. And also, another squad overhaul just three years after the last massive one, and spending almost £2bn along the way? That’s absolutely crazy to be in this position again already. But here we are..

Alonso ready for overhaul

Spanish outlet Diario AS are reporting that Xabi Alonso is preparing a MAJOR overhaul at Chelsea after failing to qualify for Europe.

I mean, we need to do this, it’s just mad that we need to do this after only doing it three years prior. Yikes.

Chelsea have now accepted that they want to sell Enzo Fernandez this summer, and are gradually lining things up to make that happen. This is one story that also will not go away.

Chelsea have Xabi Alonso coming in as their new manager and that’s got fans very excited about their prospects for next season. Jason Cundy has even called him a cheat code!
