Chelsea want to sell Alejandro Garnacho

Chelsea are prepared to offload Alejandro Garnacho this summer, less than a year after his £40 million switch from Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.

The winger arrived at Stamford Bridge with significant expectations.

But there is now an acceptance internally that the move has not worked out.

The West London club are open to letting him leave during the upcoming window.

Struggles since leaving Manchester United

Garnacho’s departure from United last summer raised questions at the time, and his first season in London has done little to silence them.

While he has featured regularly, his influence in key moments has been limited, especially in the Premier League.

His return to Old Trafford recently only added to the scrutiny.

Introduced early during Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat, the Argentine failed to make a meaningful impact against his former side.

In the aftermath, Luke Shaw appeared to aim a subtle dig at him on Instagram, reflecting the growing pressure on the 21-year-old.

In addition, reports have even suggested he has been contacted over a potential one-year loan move to River Plate, further underlining the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Premier League stats highlight issues

Garnacho’s Premier League numbers this season highlight why Chelsea are considering a sale.

Across 22 appearances, he has scored just once and registered four assists, despite registering an expected goals figure of 3.27.

These numbers suggest he has underperformed in front of goal.

His inefficiency is further reflected in his shooting.

Only seven of his 31 attempts have been on target.

While he has shown glimpses of creativity, posting an expected assists figure of 3.66, his end product has remained inconsistent throughout the campaign.

There are also concerns in wider areas.

The former Manchester United winger has a dribble success rate of 37.8% and a crossing accuracy of just 13.8%.

Those percentages show how limited he is when Chelsea need him to affect the game, despite receiving the ball frequently in attacking positions.

Uncertain future at Chelsea

With Chelsea now open to selling, Alejandro Garnacho faces an uncertain few months ahead.

What was expected to be a major step in his career is at risk of becoming a short-lived chapter.

Interest from elsewhere is likely, particularly given his age and profile.

However, his next move may now be crucial in determining whether he can rediscover the promise he once showed at Manchester United.
