Club fear that Chelsea are about to make an approach to sign their manager

Coventry City are reportedly fearing that Chelsea are going to make an approach to bring Frank Lampard back this summer.

It would be the third time that Lampard became the Chelsea manager, twice under this current ownership, if there is any substance at all to these fresh links.

Personally, I can’t see it. Lampard is about to get promotion from the Championship to the Premier League with Coventry, so I can see him wanting to lead them into next season as well. Also, I don’t think he wants to go back to Chelsea right now with all the turmoil going on there and criticism of the project they are running.

Coventry making contingency plans

Football Insider claim that Coventry City are making contingency plans in the event that Frank Lampard is lured back to Chelsea this summer.

The Sky Blues have apparently targeted John Eustace in case they lose Lampard this summer.

The report goes on to say that Coventry increasingly fear the prospect of an approach for Lampard from Chelsea, where he retains legendary status.

Blues defender Tosin Adarabioyo got a start and a clean sheet on Saturday in the 7-0 thrashing of Port Vale, and after the game he took the chance to praise his mate Cole Palmer.
