Juventus forward Francisco Conceicao has withdrawn from the Portugal national team squad through injury, and is now at risk of missing out on the upcoming Derby d’Italia against rivals Inter in Serie A this weekend.

Conceicao an injury concern for Juventus ahead of Inter clash

The Portugal national team have confirmed in a statement that Conceicao left the national team training camp on Monday afternoon, as he reported ‘muscular discomfort’. He has been ruled out of Portugal’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Hungary.

“Francisco Conceicao was dismissed from the national team training camp in Budapest this afternoon,” a statement read.

“The player had muscular discomfort and was declared unfit for the game against Hungary by the FPF Health and Performance director.”

The 22-year-old will now return to Turin for further assessment ahead of the Inter clash, which is scheduled for 17.00 BST on Saturday evening.

Conceicao has lined up as a starter in both of Juventus’s first two Serie A matches of the season: A 2-0 win over Parma and a 1-0 victory away against Genoa.

He has played in one of the trequartista roles alongside Kenan Yildiz for Juve so far this season. There could, however, be an opportunity for new signing Edon Zhegorva , or potentially Teun Koopmeiners to slot into that role should Conceicao be unavailable this weekend assuming that Tudor sticks with the same system.
