Nothing captures the agony of losing in a final than the moment the TV director scours the crowd for a close up of a fan bawling their eyes out.
Yesterday it was Inter Milan's turn to have their pain writ large on the big screen for the world to see after their shocking 5-0 defeat in the Champions League final to PSG.

It hurts because we've all been there and feel his pain. But we secretly enjoy it...because we've all been there and are thankful it wasn't our team this time.
Perhaps a line is crossed when they hone in on the inconsolable young kid in the crowd, too young to fully understand that this is part of what it means to be a soccer fan.
Former Liverpool manager Bill Shankly once famously said:
"Football is not a matter of life or death...it's much more important than that"
A soccer club is a best friend, a spouse, an escape and a lifelong commitment to something outside of one's control. A huge loss can feel like a death, and for Inter fans those closing few minutes of the game yesterday must have felt like being at the funeral.
But here's the good news. There's always another game; another cup; another season; another chance to turn despair into hope.
Soccer is a not life and death and we should remember that in a world filled with unspeakable tragedy. Soccer is just a metaphor for it.
As this young Man Utd fan saw when caught crying with his team losing 4-2 in the Europa League Semi-final. Only to have his tears turn to joy as United made a miraculous come back. Agony and ecstasy; death and life.
Felt bad seeing this kid crying. Was so angry against the players, the coaches and everyone within the club. But at the end his innocent sad tears turned into tears of joy.
