Manchester United’s academy recruitment continues to remain one of the club’s biggest priorities as the Red Devils search for the next generation of talent capable of progressing through the youth ranks into senior football.

The club have already made several moves to strengthen their development system in recent months, with United focusing heavily on identifying elite teenage prospects from across England and Europe.

One area receiving particular attention is the goalkeeping department, especially after the expected departure of highly rated youngster Darlington Osuchukwu, which created space for further additions at academy level.

After already securing the signing of goalkeeper Charlie Hardy from Derby County in December, Manchester United are now pushing to add another highly regarded young shot-stopper to their ranks.

According to MUFC Academy on X, United are showing concrete interest in Luca Benetton, the highly-rated Crystal Palace academy goalkeeper who has quickly emerged as one of the standout young talents in his age group.

The 15-year-old, who is eligible to represent Italy, Brazil and England internationally, has reportedly impressed United scouts with his performances and overall potential.

However, United are not alone in the race for the teenager, with rivals Manchester City and several other clubs also closely monitoring the situation.

Luca Benetton has already built a strong reputation despite his young age, particularly after making his debut for Crystal Palace’s Under-18 side at just 14 years old.

One of his most eye-catching performances came during the Premier League Cup final against Manchester United, where he produced an outstanding display during a penalty shootout victory for Palace.

The young goalkeeper reportedly made 10 saves across the match, including a crucial penalty stop, helping Crystal Palace defeat United in dramatic fashion and further boosting his reputation among top academy recruiters.

United’s continued interest highlights the club’s long-term focus on rebuilding depth throughout their youth system, especially in specialist positions such as goalkeeper where competition remain vital.

With several clubs circling around Benetton, the battle for one of England’s most promising young goalkeepers could soon become one of the more intriguing academy transfer stories of the summer.
