Dani Carvajal’s injury could ramp up Real Madrid’s interest in Pedro Porro

Dani Carvajal’s recent ACL injury could see Real Madrid amp up their efforts for a new right-back in the coming months.

The 32-year-old is set to be out for most of the season, if not all. Real Madrid have already been linked with moves for Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Tottenham’s Pedro Porro.

Porro has been deemed as an alternative for Los Blancos up to this point, but being a homegrown talent may work out in his favour as the Spanish giants may deem integrating him more feasible than the born-and-bred-in-Liverpool 26-year-old, who is in the final year of his contract.

On the other hand, valued by Transfermarkt at €45 million, Porro has in place at Tottenham a £85k-per-week contract that is set to run until June 2028.

Spurs need a right-back

Regardless of what happens with Porro, Tottenham need to consider getting a right-back in the coming transfer windows.

Archie Gray is promising but needs to be given time. Djed Spence is clearly not Ange Postecoglou’s first choice, and Porro, for all his attacking intent, does leave a bit to be desired in defence, though he is part of a Spurs side not too keen on contingencies at the back.
