Denzel Dumfries is reportedly pushing for a move to the Premier League, which could put him back on Liverpool’s radar this summer.

During January, injuries to Conor Bradley and Jeremie Frimpong left Arne Slot short of options at right-back, and it was reported that Liverpool had made an enquiry about Dumfries.

Inter were quick to dismiss any notion of a deal at the time. However, with Dumfries now fit again after a three-month layoff, Friday’s report from Corriere dello Sport suggests that his new agent has been instructed to find him a move to England before the start of next season.

According to reports from earlier this year, Liverpool’s initial approach for Dumfries was a loan deal, aimed at filling in while Bradley was out injured.

The 30-year-old has only just made his return for Inter, so it may have been more about exploring him as a longer-term option.

Bradley’s fitness issues remain a concern, and with Frimpong often playing higher up the pitch, adding another right-back could make sense.

Dumfries fits that profile well. Even though he’s over 30 now, his reported £22m price tag isn’t unreasonable for someone with his experience.

Corriere dello Sport report that Dumfries is keen on a move to England and with an affordable release clause in place, this could be the window where he makes it happen.

Liverpool might have bigger issues to address this summer than right-back depth. But given how stretched they’ve been at times this season, it wouldn’t be surprising if they revisited their interest in Dumfries later in the year.

Move to Premier League looks increasingly likely for Dumfries

After spending four years at Inter, it appears a move to England is on the horizon for Dumfries this summer.

If it isn’t Liverpool, there’s a good chance he ends up at one of the Premier League’s other Champions League sides.

There’s also a scenario where he stays put. He still has two years left on his deal at San Siro. But with his release clause and stated desire to leave, a move feels pretty much inevitable.

If Liverpool do decide they need more depth on the right side of defence, moving for Dumfries would make sense. The club has shown interest before, and the situation might be aligning for another approach.
