Mohamed Salah remains under contract at Liverpool until 2027, but the club is already beginning to plan for his eventual departure.

His future became a topic of discussion earlier this season after he gave an interview following a 3-3 draw with Leeds United.

Since then, he’s worked his way back into the starting lineup and has featured in every match since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, interest from the Saudi Pro League hasn’t gone away, and it’s still uncertain whether he’ll stay until his contract ends or move on before then.

A few names have already been mentioned as possible targets. Yan Diomande has come up in conversation as a possible fit for some time now.

Meanwhile, Graeme Bailey recently linked three more players from European clubs.

According to Bailey, FSG have started to plan for life after Salah, with four players reportedly under consideration.

The list includes Diomande, along with Nico Williams and PSG pair Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola.

Liverpool have been linked with Barcola in the past. The PSG winger has had an impressive spell alongside Doué in Ligue 1. The pair helped the French side win the Champions League in 2025.

How Liverpool could benefit financially from Mohamed Salah’s departure

If Salah does make the switch to Saudi Arabia this summer, Liverpool would still be in line for a transfer fee, given he’d have a year left on his contract.

But even if he sees out his deal and leaves for nothing in 2027, it would still ease pressure on the club’s wage structure.

Salah currently earns £400,000 per week [Capology], making him the top earner at the club following his contract renewal in 2025.

Over a year, that amounts to £20.8m – money that could then go toward paying for new signings or covering another player’s salary.
