The Houston Dynamo exercised their purchase option for Brazilian defender Felipe Andrade on Tuesday.

Andrade, 23, has recorded three goals and one assist in 19 MLS matches (15 starts) since arriving on loan from Brazil's Fluminense SC.

"Felipe is an exciting young talent who has quickly established himself as an impact contributor at the first-team level," Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad said. "... His versatility allows us to deploy him in multiple roles within our system, and he consistently plays with a fierce competitive edge and full commitment to our project in Houston."

Andrade helped Fluminense win the 2023 Copa Libertadores and has helped the Dynamo (8-13-9, 33 points) stay in the hunt for a playoff spot, sitting two points below the Western Conference cutoff line.
