Eric Cantona returned to management on Sunday, but it did not go to plan with his side falling to defeat under his management.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Cantona would join forces with Mike Phelan, who was the former Manchester United assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson, to manage a team called “OGFC”.

The team was full of United legends of the past with Edwin van der Sar starting in goal whilst other players such as Ryan Giggs, Antonio Valencia, and Nani were also in the squad.

Although the squad has no official association with Manchester United the club, it was filled with players who were part of the club’s golden years and several players from the 2008 Champions League-winning squad featured.

Cantona’s team did not win the game, however, with them losing 1-0 to ‘Suwon Samsung Bluewings’ legends which was a team filled with legends of Korean football history.

What were the aims of the team?

Eric Cantona’s team went into the game with one specific aim, to make a positive step towards reaching their target of having a minimum 73% win rate.

The win rate is reflective of the peak success rate that many players on the team had during their professional careers.

Should the team fail to hit the target, they will disband and, with hard opponents, Cantona and Phelan will have to work hard to ensure that their team can hit the intended target.

What is next for Eric Cantona and his team?

Reflection may be taken after the defeat on Sunday to help the team improve for future games.

Although their next match is not yet clear, winning it may be essential to helping the team reach their main target of having a minimum win rate of 73%.
