Inter Miami will be losing two legendary players for next season as Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba confirmed that they will retire after the MLS playoffs.
Both Spanish players joined Inter Miami in 2023, with Lionel Messi and the club slowly started bringing other former teammates of Messi over the years, like Luis Suarez in 2024, and most recently, with Rodrigo De Paul this summer.
With Busquets and Alba leaving, De Paul is set to occupy the designated player spot at the club, and Inter Miami would have one spot left.
Many believe that Inter Miami is set to bring in another superstar player next year, and the name, according to new reports, suggests it may be Neymar.
Neymar is currently with Santos FC in Brazil and joined his boyhood club earlier this year. In June, Neymar signed a contract extension that will last until the end of 2025. He has an option to extend his contract till the 2026 World Cup, but he may consider another move.
According to new reports, Neymar will decide on his future in December, near the end of his current Santos contract.
Neymar has reportedly been offered a move to Inter Miami, and the MLS club is rumored to be a serious option for the Brazilian star. Neymar eyes the 2026 World Cup and could look to join Inter Miami as the third designated player.
Mail Sport recently reported that Inter Miami is looking to see if they could sign Neymar as a free agent in early 2026 before the 2026 MLS Season, which is expected to start in February or March.
Neymar has given his thoughts on reuniting with Messi and Suarez at Inter Miami, but he was at Al Hilal and is now with Santos FC. Neymar said earlier this year, "The reunion with Messi and Suarez would be incredible! They are my friends, we still speak to each other. It’d be interesting to revive this trio."
