Ruben Amorim was officially sacked as Manchester United’s head coach yesterday.
U18 manager Darren Fletcher has taken over on an interim basis and will lead the game against Burnley on the 7th January.
Fletcher completed his first United press conference today as head coach.
The Red Devils needed someone to take over and improve the atmosphere after Jose Mourinho was fired.
Solskjaer got the caretaker job and did so well as the manager that he ended up getting the permanent role.
The Norwegian’s team finished third and second in the English Premier League and broke the record for the longest run of away games unbeaten in league history.
But things began to change, and the club started playing inconsistent football and went on a poor run.
In the end, Solskjaer was fired.
Now, in a shocking turn of events once again, Solskjaer is under serious consideration for the caretaker role following Amorim’s departure.
So is former legend Michael Carrick, however.
Despite Solskjaer leading the race this entire week, it seems now Carrick has overtaken him.
Carrick was caretaker for three games from late November to early December 2021, winning two and drawing the other.
Now, we can reveal a huge update on this situation.
CentreDevils understands that Michael Carrick is set to be Manchester United’s caretaker manager for the remainder of the season.
There will be further talks today to finalise details with Carrick, who has already met with Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox today.
It is thought that Wilcox originally opted for Solskjaer.
The Red Devils want to announce this decision imminently before the first team’s training session on Wednesday so they are well prepared for the Manchester derby on the weekend.
Carrick will come into a very tough situation following a loss in the FA Cup to Brighton.
