Exclusive: Roma increase bid for Verona defender Daniele Ghilardi

At least a couple million more than the €10 million that Roma had initially offered Verona for centre-back Daniele Ghilardi.

We had reported that this would be the key to unlocking the deal, given that Hellas will have to pay 50 percent to Fiorentina as part of an old agreement.

Roma have upped their offer, now we are just waiting on the bureaucratic steps that will lead to the medical and the signing.

Young defender Ghilardi close to Roma

Ghilardi signed for Verona from Fiorentina in on loan in January 2022. The deal contained an option to buy which Verona exercised in the same July, costing €380,000 plus 50% of any future resale. The 22-year-old played 24 times for the Gialloblu in the 2024-25 season, having initially spent his first two seasons at the club on loan with Mantova and Sampdoria.

The youngster has 16 appearances for the Italian U21 national team, scoring one time for the Azzurrini.
