Tottenham Hotspur are working hard to upgrade their squad for next season’s challenges.
Spurs have already confirmed the permanent capture of defender Kevin Danso from RC Lens, and at £21 million, he certainly represents a smart piece of business. The North Londoners must now shift their focus toward strengthening the forward department, owing to uncertain futures of several players.
Son Heung-min and Richarlison may have played their final games for Tottenham, while Timo Werner’s exit has already been announced. The club are set to renegotiate purchase terms with Bayern Munich for the signing of Mathys Tel, who arrived at N17 on loan on the January transfer deadline day.
Plenty of attackers have been linked with moves to Spurs in recent months. To make space in the squad, the Hotspur Way chiefs have been contemplating offloading few fringe players and one of them is Manor Solomon.
Some eyebrows were raised last summer when Manor Solomon decided to drop down to the Championship by making a loan move to Leeds United. However, the move worked wonders for the 25-year-old, who has not only put his injury concerns behind him but also shown his effectiveness in the final third, with 10 goals and 12 assists in 39 league games to his name. He also netted the decisive goal that helped Leeds United win the Championship title.
The Whites, after achieving promotion, are keen to sign Solomon permanently from Tottenham but face competition from Everton. French side Marseille have also shown an interest in the diminutive attacker. The expectation was that the North London outfit would sell the Israel international this summer, but there seems to be a change in plans.
Now, according to an exclusive report from The Sun, Tottenham are set to hand Solomon a second chance at White Hart Lane. Having not played a competitive game in a Spurs shirt since September 2023, he has become a forgotten man in North London. However, following his exploits in the Championship and return to form, the Hotspur Way chiefs are ready to evaluate the winger over the pre-season with the idea of keeping him next term.
This is a dramatic U-turn from the Lilywhites when it comes to the future of Solomon, who may have been making plans by now to leave the club permanently. The Israeli star is not short of suitors after getting his career back on track. At 25, he is on course to enter the best years of his career and perhaps Tottenham are having second thoughts about moving him on now.
All in all, Spurs will want to see how Solomon performs over the pre-season tour before making a concrete decision over his future.
