FA Cup quarterfinals set for June 27-28, Final for Aug. 1

On Thursday, the English Premier League announced the top-flight will return amid the coronavirus pandemic on Wednesday, June 17 with a pair of fixtures before a full matchday on Friday, June 19.

The country's biggest cup competition is also set to resume.

On Friday, Sky Sports News reported the FA Cup quarterfinals are tentatively scheduled for the weekend of June 27-28, with the Final planned for Saturday, August 1.

Venues and kickoff times for the quarterfinals weren't announced. The semifinal matches and Final will occur at Wembley Stadium. It's believed all games will occur behind closed doors and without supporters.

FA chief executive Mark Bullingham added that the unpredictable and uncontrolled virus outbreak could further affect the competition:

"This has been a difficult period for many people and while this is a positive step, the restart date is dependent on all safety measures being met. The health and wellbeing of players, staff, and supporters remains our priority."

Only Premier League clubs remain in this year's FA Cup tournament. Leicester City will face Chelsea. Newcastle United will play against Manchester City. Sheffield United will battle Arsenal. Norwich City, last in the league table and likely to be relegated to the Championship, will play Manchester United.
