Tottenham Hotspur endured a heartbreaking loss to PSG in the UEFA Super Cup, losing out on penalties having the French side on the ropes for three-quarters of the game.

It was an opportunity lost for Spurs to win their first trophy of the new season. However, Thomas Frank & co. would have taken a lot of positives from their display against last season’s Champions League winners.

Tottenham don’t seem to be done with their transfer business either, with the club linked with a number of talented players even as the summer transfer deadlines slowly yet surely closes in.

Tottenham remain in active talks to sign Savinho

Now, as per Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur continue to remain in active talks to sign Manchester City attacker Savinho this summer after the Brazilian was left out of Pep Guardiola’s squad against Wolves.

The Spanish tactician claimed that Savinho was injured but the Brazilian posted a picture of himself from the gym. There isn’t much to read into this but it is very clear that the 21-year-old finds himself right in the middle of a transfer saga.

Pep Guardiola loved what he saw from Savinho last season, even labelling him an “incredible” attacker. The Spanish tactician would love to keep hold of the young winger but Spurs might be able to offer him a more starring role this summer.

An unpolished gem in Thomas Frank’s hands

Having lost Son Heung-min this summer and also seeing James Maddison picking up an ACL injury, it is safe to say that Tottenham need reinforcements this summer and this is where Savinho comes in.

For all the talent that the Brazilian possesses, he is still very much an unpolished gem. However, the opportunity to work under Thomas Frank should be good for his development and he is likely to get more game time than he would at City.

The next few days should provide a clearer picture on how things play out on this front for Man City and Tottenham. It could all come down to the fee that the two clubs need to agree and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
