Fenerbahce step up interest in Cagliari’s Mina

Yerry Mina could be on the move this summer, with Fenerbahce showing an interest in the Cagliari defender.

According to Turkish outlet Habergo, via TuttoMercatoWeb, the Super Lig side have stepped up contacts with the Sardinians in recent hours as they look to secure the experienced centre-back.

Mina has been a mainstay for Cagliari of late, one of the key figures around whom the club built their survival in each of the last two Serie A campaigns.

Any suggestion of his departure is therefore likely to unsettle the Rossoblù faithful, given the influence the Colombia international has had at the heart of the defence.

Fenerbahce weigh up move for Cagliari’s Mina

The report indicates that Fenerbahce have identified the 31-year-old as an ideal addition to bolster their backline.

However, the Turkish club are said to be weighing up the move carefully before committing, with particular attention being paid to Mina’s physical condition, a nod to the fitness issues that have punctuated his career.

For now, then, this remains at the exploratory stage: concrete interest and intensifying dialogue, but with Fenerbahce doing their due diligence before deciding whether to press ahead.

Should they move, Cagliari would face the challenge of replacing a defender who has been central to their recent top-flight stability.
