Tottenham Hotspur are gearing up for a decisive final two weeks of the transfer market, with financial experts convinced the club will spend big to reinforce Thomas Frank’s squad before the September 1st deadline.
It has already been a busy summer in N17. Mohammed Kudus arrived from West Ham for £55m and has looked like a bargain with instant impact. Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, Luka Vuskovic and Kota Takai have all joined on permanent deals, with Joao Palhinha bolstering midfield on loan from Bayern Munich.
That takes Spurs’ spend to around £125m so far, yet there’s still a clear sense that the Lilywhites are not done. With James Maddison ruled out for the season and Son Heung-min departing for MLS, fresh attacking options are a necessity rather than a luxury.
Spurs are pushing hard for two major attacking reinforcements: Savinho and Eberechi Eze. Manchester City have already rejected a £60m bid for Savinho, but Tottenham remain determined. Meanwhile, multiple reports suggest talks for Crystal Palace star Eze are progressing, with former Spurs scout Mick Brown even claiming a deal is close.
Crucially, Frank and the recruitment team don’t see these deals as “one or the other.” Instead, both Savinho and Eze are viewed as transformative additions who would provide very different qualities to Frank’s system, something Spurs desperately need heading into a Champions League campaign.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson has explained why Tottenham are in such a strong position to invest via Football Insider:
“If you looked at the revenue for this season versus the current wage bill, I bet it’s forecast to be at around 38 per cent of turnover. It was already low at 42 per cent in 2023/24. That’s just too low. There has got to be some investment and there will be.”
In other words, Spurs’ wage-to-revenue ratio gives Daniel Levy and the board plenty of room to back Frank. With Champions League football on the horizon, the club simply cannot afford to stand still.
Spurs fans can therefore expect a strong finish to the window. Borson predicts “three or four players” could arrive, and with the links to Savinho and Eze intensifying, that feels increasingly realistic.
The message is clear: Tottenham are ready to end the summer window with a bang. Levy’s smart business earlier in the window has laid the foundation, and now it’s about delivering the star names Frank needs to keep Spurs competing at the very top.
