Fiorentina announce that Nico Gonzalez has sustained a Grade II lesion to the flexor in his right thigh and is expected to be out of action for several months.

The striker had only just returned from a muscular issue when he suffered the serious relapse during the opening minutes of the Conference League draw with Ferencvaros in Budapest on Thursday evening.

He pulled up mid-run clutching the back of his right thigh and was stretchered off in tears, suggesting from the very start that this was a major injury.

Now the Fiorentina medical staff have released a statement confirming that tests showed a Grade II lesion to the flexor.

Nico Gonzalez will be re-evaluated over the next few weeks, but this type of injury will require at least two months out.

The Argentina international has been unlucky with his fitness, as he was forced to miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Meanwhile, Alfred Duncan has also been ruled out of tomorrow’s Serie A match against Hellas Verona, as he is struggling with flu symptoms.
