A new dawn is on the horizon for Tottenham following their Europa League success last month. The Lilywhites have the chance to build on the historic achievement and kickstart a new era at N17. While many fans thought that Ange Postecoglou would be the one to lead the North London club forward after ending the club’s trophy drought, Daniel Levy has taken the other route and replaced the Australian in no time.
Spurs announced the hiring of Thomas Frank as their new manager for next season after the departure of Big Ange last week. It is fair to say that the Danish tactician must get going from minute one if he wants to win over the fans heading into next season. Most fans are still hung on the fact that Ange Postecoglou should have stayed at the helm, so winning them over will be a big task for Frank.
But it is fair to say that hiring the Brentford boss is a step in the right direction as the 51-year-old has overperformed time and again at the Gtech Stadium. Every player and every pundit have always spoken highly of Thomas Frank and the Bees have become a solid mid-table Premier League team due to his coaching setup.
Some fans are still on the fence regarding Thomas Frank’s appointment at N17. It goes without saying that it will be tough job to replace a manager that has just ended the club’s 17-year wait for a major trophy. But if anyone can manage to do that, then it the Danish tactician. The 51-year-old is tactically adept and has been known to bring out the best out of his players through his hands-on coaching style.
Ex-Liverpool star Stan Collymore also believes that Thomas Frank is tactically better than Ange Postecoglou. Writing in his CaughtOffside column, Collymore said,
“I really rate the appointment of Thomas Frank as Tottenham’s new manager. I have spoken to him in the past, and he is a very intelligent coach. He is a technical person, and because of this, he should fit in very well in north London. He understands tactical flexibility, which is something that Ange Postecoglou did not. And I think he will be as easy-going, but I’m sure that he will also operate with a rod of steel.”
Stan Collymore believes Tottenham have done the right thing by hiring Thomas Frank as their new manager. The ex-Liverpool star suggests that the Danish tactician is tactically flexible, which will help him do well at Spurs going into next season. Collymore also believes that Thomas Frank is tactically superior to Ange Postecoglou and he will help the players a lot more with his easy-going nature.
The former Brentford boss was known to bring out the best out of his players during his time in West London. The most notable example is prolific winger Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroon international managed to register 20 goals and eight assists under Frank this season, helping the club to push for European football for next season. So, the Spurs players will learn a lot from the 51-year-old if they are willing to get on trust what he is trying to build at N17.
