Former Loon Caden Clark called up to USMNT
USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota native and former Minnesota United winger Caden Clark has been called into the U.S. Men's National Team's January camp.

Clark, 21, appeared in 23 games, starting 11, for the Loons this season before he was traded to CF Montreal in August. With Minnesota, Clark played 1,032 minutes but struggled to find a regular spot under new head coach Eric Ramsay. After being traded, Clark scored four goals and registered two assists in 669 minutes for Montreal.

The Medina, Minn., native has taken part in USMNT camps before but has never appeared in a game for the U.S. He was on the bench for a friendly for the USMNT in December 2021 against Bosnia and Herzegovina, but did not get on the field.

Clark started his professional career at 16 years old, debuting for New York Red Bulls II (NYRB II) in the USL Championship during the 2020 season.

He scored three goals and registered five assists for NYRB II in 2020 and made his MLS debut for New York, appearing in seven games and scoring twice.

Following the 2021 season, Clark joined RB Leipzig of the German Bundesliga but never made an appearance for the club before being loaned back to NYRB in 2022. MNUFC announced September 2023 the team had signed Clark for the 2024 season.

The USMNT will play two friendlies as part of the January camp that starts on Jan. 7 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. On Jan. 18, the USMNT will host Venezuela, which will be followed up by a game against Costa Rica on Jan. 22 in Orlando.

Clark will return to Allianz Field on March 1, when the Loons host CF Montreal in their home opener of the 2025 MLS regular season.
