Brazil and France’s history of being the most iconic international teams was on full display during their recent match.
Though the crowd was heavily favoring Brazil, Mbappé silenced any hype they might’ve had in the 31st minute. Chipping Ederson and creating a 1-0 for the former World Cup winners.
In the 37th minute, Mbappe almost got a brace when Aurélien Tchouaméni slipped the ball in behind Brazil’s backline, but this attempt went wide.
Tensions started to flare for Brazil when Casimero received a yellow card in the 38th minute, after protesting for a corner kick.
Coming out of the second half, both teams turned up their pressure. Luiz Henrique had a shot from outside the box but was saved by Mike Maignan in the 50th minute.
France’s Dayot Upamecano was sent off in the 55th minute after a video review upgraded his yellow card to a red for a foul on a player with a clear path to the goal.
Following the dismissal, Hugo Ekitiké managed to score from the center of the box off of Michael Olise’s assist.
Brazil continued to fight their fight, cutting the lead to 2-1, when Bremer redirected a cross from Luiz Henrique past Maignan.
Hopefully ,France can win again on the same pitch. They are scheduled to play their final World Cup group stage game against Erling Haaland and Norway this summer.
Sadly for Brazil and FC Barcelona, Raphina has been ruled out for 5 weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury. Meaning he will miss their Champions League first leg quarter-finals match against Atlético Madrid.
