Coventry City F.C. is closer to the Premier League than anything else. On April 26, they defeated Wrexham A.F.C., owned by Ryan Reynolds, 3–1 to state their dominance in the Championship.
Before the match, Ryan Reynolds posted an Instagram story inviting Coventry City F.C. to a first-class trip to Las Vegas.
The message was a playful jab, hinting at Frank Lampard’s side missing the game and giving Wrexham A.F.C. a better chance to stay in the playoff spots for promotion to the Premier League.
After the match, Frank Lampard shared his thoughts on the strong form of Wrexham A.F.C., the club owned by Ryan Reynolds.
This isn’t Frank Lampard’s first encounter with Wrexham; he previously faced them during his loan spell at Swansea City A.F.C., as he himself recalled.
"It's a brilliant story that I think we've all followed to some degree. I played against Wrexham many, many years ago when I was on loan at Swansea, and I think I gave a penalty away.”
But no one can deny the outstanding work of the club’s owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Since their arrival, the club has achieved three consecutive promotions, a feat very few teams can claim.
“I think, as a story, it's fantastic, and we should promote those stories of clubs. They've come up, and they've invested, and they've tried to have a go in the Championship this year. I think it's a really positive story in general.”
Just as Frank Lampard does, the wider soccer community should acknowledge the outstanding work of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
For a legend, a former Chelsea F.C. player and one of the best English midfielders of the 21st century, to say that only amplifies the impact of what they’ve built with the club.
