Michele di Bari, the prefect of Naples, has ordered a ban on the sale of tickets to Frankfurt fans for the Champions League clash between the two sides on November 4.

As has been revealed by La Repubblica, the ban was ordered “based on the advice of the Naples Police Headquarters and in accordance with the decisions of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety of September 20, 2020.”

The ban will prevent Frankfurt residents from buying tickets in any section of the stadium.

Napoli & Frankfurt rivalry led to chaos in 2023

In 2023, Napoli and Frankfurt met in a Champions League knock-out match. The Neapolitan side won 5-0 on aggregate but the second leg in Naples brought its own set of problems.

Prior to the match, a number of violent fights broke out in the city, leading to the arrest of five Napoli fans and three Frankfurt fans.

Two police officers were also injured, cars were set on fire and nine German fans were treated for injuries, including stab wounds.

The violence erupted after 470 of the Frankfurt ultras, who were already banned from the stadium, marched through the centre of Naples.
