Milan are pushing hard to agree personal terms with Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka, who will be a free agent in the summer.
There had already been reports of interest in the player, who will celebrate his 31st birthday next week.
Now Calciomercato.com assure that director of sport Igli Tare is pursuing the situation more aggressively, confident he can get a deal done before any other competitors.
His contract is set to expire on June 30 and the Germany international feels ready for a new experience after eight years at Bayern Munich.
The Rossoneri have the benefit of already working with his agents, as they also represent January signing Niclas Fullkrug.
Following the success of Luka Modric’s arrival as a free agent from Real Madrid, Tare believes Milan can repeat that formula with Goretzka.
There is plenty of competition from the likes of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, but the Serie A side hope to state their case with determination, including the promise of regular playing time.
