Full Story Behind Lamine Yamal's Dwarf Hiring Controversy During Lavish Birthday Party

Lamine Yamal turned 18 years old yesterday and held a birthday party with many guests. Among the guests were football players, teammates, friends, and celebrities.

Yamal has received backlash over his party having a group of dwarves as part of the entertainment at the party. The Athletic reports that the party took place at a country house Yamal rented in Olivella, a municipality in Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain.

Controversy sparked when media outlets at the entrance of the party filmed a group of dwarves heading into the party.

The Athletic reports that Jesus Martin Blanco, the director general for the rights of persons with disabilities in Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights, has called for an investigation.

Yesterday, the Association of People with Achondroplasia and other Skeletal Dysplasias in Spain (ADEE) condemned what it called “a violation of ethical values” and said it will look to take legal action.

COPE reports that the Spanish Government has asked for investigations to find out if the disability law was violated at Lamine Yamal's party. One of the people with dwarfism defended Lamine Yamal from any violations.

Person with Dwarfism Defends Lamine Yamal's party

RAC1 reports that a person with dwarfism who was involved at the Lamine Yamal party denies any violation or any disrespect towards the group of dwarves.

Person with Dwarfism: "No one disrespected us, let us work in peace... I don't understand why there is so much drama. We are normal people, doing what we want to do, in an absolutely legal way. I disagree with the association [that wants to sue Lamine Yamal], they seek to humiliate people with dwarfism. For a couple of years, these people have been harming us; they want to ban a job that we enjoy. We work as entertainers, why can't we do it because of our physical condition? We are not monkeys! We just dance, hand out drinks, do magic, and shows".

Despite the person defending Yamal for bringing the group to his party as the entertainment, people on social media continue to criticize the FC Barcelona forward.

Yamal posted a one minute video of his party on his Instagram. There are no pictures or videos from other sources as one of the reported rules for the exclusive party was phones being banned and no pictures allowed.
