Genoa are pushing to sign Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni, with negotiations potentially heading to a swap deal with Koni De Winter.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter Milan attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni is currently back at the Nerazzurri.
The 20-year-old was part of the Inter squad at the Club World Cup.
Carboni has fully recovered from an ACL tear that he suffered in October. That injury had ruled him out of the majority of last season.
The Argentine had initially joined Marseille on loan last summer. Reportedly, the French club had a purchase option, whilst Inter had a buyback option.
However, the ACL injury completely disrupted any progress Carboni had been making.
Now the question is whether Carboni will go on loan again, or stay at Inter.
The Argentine has made appearances at the Club World Cup. And he in fact scored the winner in stoppage time against Urawa Red Diamonds, his first senior goal for Inter.
However, there is every chance that Carboni could go out on another loan.
According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Carboni himself would welcome the idea of another loan. The 20-year-old’s priority at this point is regular playing time.
Moreover, Genoa look to be the club with the keenest interest in Carboni.
And Grifone coach Patrick Vieira has a good track record of trusting in young players and allowing them to develop.
Therefore, reports the Gazzetta, Genoa would be in a strong position to sign Carboni.
Meanwhile, Inter could also use the prospect of a loan of the Argentine as a bargaining chip to potentially sign Genoa defender Koni De Winter.
