Micky van de Ven was the standout player for Tottenham in their impressive win against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium

Tottenham registered their fifth Premier League win of the season after clinching all three points against a determined Everton side. The Lilywhites dominated proceedings from start to finish and were, without a doubt, the better team on the day. The emphatic 3-0 victory also ended the North London club’s six-game winless run away from home against the Toffees, a streak that dated back to 2019.

Thanks to two sublime headers from Micky van de Ven and a last-minute goal from Pape Matar Sarr, Thomas Frank’s men registered their fourth away of the campaign. The result also saw them equal their record for most points collected from their first five away matches in the competition (13). The players executed the gameplan to perfection against Everton, showing once again why they are no longer a side to be underestimated under the Danish tactician’s guidance.

Spurs look like a completely different team on the road, proving that they thrive on upsetting the odds when given the chance. Not many expected the Lilywhites to take all three points at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but as they have done all season, Thomas Frank’s men displayed tremendous courage, determination, and fighting spirit to come away with a statement win at Merseyside, climbing back to third in the Premier League table.

Micky van de Ven hails Tottenham’s ‘character’ against Everton

Micky van de Ven had the perfect day out for Tottenham, scoring twice and helping his side keep a clean sheet to ensure the Lilywhites returned to North London with all three points. The Dutchman led his team from the front in Cristian Romero’s absence, and there were clear signs of an improvement from the North London club after last week’s horror show against AS Monaco.

Reflecting on his team’s progress in such a short period, the Spurs defender praised the team’s mentality. Speaking after the game against Everton (via BBC), Van de Ven said,

“We saw some great mentality again today. When we play away in the Premier League, we know it is going to be tough, and we showed great character. It was a top all-round performance today.”

Micky van de Ven was clearly delighted with the character and composure his teammates showed against a resilient Everton side. The Dutchman expressed pride in the team’s mental strength and was visibly pleased with the way the Lilywhites handled the challenge at Merseyside.

The win against the Toffees gives Spurs a great platform to build on as they look to compete on all fronts this season. Thomas Frank wants his team to take each game as it comes and close the gap on their rivals come the end of the season. So, the Lilywhites must make sure they do not get carried away with the positive result at Merseyside and continue to carry on the winning momentum.
