Highlights
You could make an argument that Harry Kane is currently in the best form of his entire career, despite having so much competition from his 11 years or so at the top of the game.
The 32-year old has already scored 11 Bundesliga goals this season, as well as four in the Champions League, two in the DFB Pokal, and one in the Franz Beckenbauer German Super Cup final, that helped him win the second trophy of his career.
With a brace against Werder Bremen a couple of weeks ago, he became the quickest player to score 100 goals in all competitions for a club in the top five leagues this century. He did so in 104 games, one game quicker than Erling Haaland at Manchester City and Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid.
This is also with his usual level of playmaking, link up play, and incredible work rate. No doubt about it, Kane is one of the most complete footballers in world football.
Having joined German giants Bayern Munich back in the summer of 2023, there was always a thought that he might come back to the Premier League at some point in his career. When speaking to The Guardian in an interview on Monday, he addressed questions on his future.
The England captain said, when asked what the future holds: "In terms of staying longer [at Bayern], I could definitely see that. I have not had those conversations with Bayern yet, but if they were to arise I would be willing to talk and have an honest conversation. Obviously it depends on how the next year or so goes, what we achieve together. We are in a fantastic moment and I am not thinking about anything else.
In terms of [returning to] the Premier League, I don't know. If you had asked me when I first left to go to Bayern, I would have said for sure I would come back. Now I have been there a couple of years I would probably say that [desire to return] has probably gone down a little bit, but I wouldn't say I would never go back.
I am fully all in with Bayern. If there was a conversation about extending then we will see, but I have still got this season and another season. It is not like I am in my last year, it is not like there is any panic.
I am calm, I love the manager at Bayern, and as long as we are improving and I am improving then I am happy to see what we can achieve."
Kane goes on to talk about other topics, including the Ballon D'or, which you can read by clicking the above hyperlink. However, the most interesting part of the interview was about his future.
Particularly when mentioning that he definitely saw a return to England when he first joined Bayern, but less so now. As mentioned earlier on, it felt like he would return to the Premier League one day when he joined Bayern - and he seemed to think so too, at the time.
But now he appears very settled in Munich. It's not hard to see why. He has won the first trophies of his career, is playing alongside elite players like Michael Olise, and under a very promising manager in Vincent Kompany.
Furthermore, with the rateHaaland is going at, breaking Alan Shearer's goal record will probably be moot. And that's the key reason why trophies are more important than individual records. The trophies will be yours forever. The record's won't be.
As it stands, Kane needs 27 goals in 28 Bundesliga games this season to get into the league's 100 club. He broke into the Premier League 100 club in February 2018, doing so in 141 appearances. Should he do so with the Bundesliga during this campaign, he will have done so in a maximum of 97 games.
The latest of his 73 league goals in Bayern colours so far came on Saturday, with an absolutely pinpoint, arrowed finished into the bottom corner. He actually picked up a knock to his ankle later on in the game, but it proved to be fine and he joined up with England as normal on Monday ahead of the international break.
