Manchester United have made yet another step in bolstering their youth ranks this week.

The club has filled a new role for their Lead National Scout position, appointing ‘one of the best out there’ in the role.

The person appointed by the Red Devils is Lead Youth Technical Scout at Newcastle United, Harvey Busby, according to TheSecretScout on X.

TheSecretScout posted a proud update on their X account, after originally taking Busby under their wing six years ago, saying, “Harvey first reached out to us in 2020, wanting to get involved in scouting. It didn’t take long for us to recognise his potential. We knew his eye and understanding of the game were exactly what youth football needed.

“When a vacancy opened up at Newcastle, we had no hesitation in putting his name forward — backing him as one of the best out there, to go and learn under the top Newcastle head of recruitment.

“He went on to play a key role in Newcastle’s recent academy recruitment, helping secure top talent ahead of other major clubs.’

“This week, he has been headhunted for one of the top roles at Manchester United.“

It appears to be an exciting appointment for United, and a great show of their academy system that they’ve been able to poach somebody labelled as one of the best scouts out there.

Busby will be responsible for age groups from under-14’s to under-18’s at Manchester United, according to TheSecretScout’s X post.

This is yet another show of United gunning hard to boost their youth ranks. Producing academy products that end up being worth a great deal of money means the potential of pure profit for the club – something worth investing in.

And success gives Manchester United fans players they can label ‘of their own’, especially the ones that reach the heights of the likes of Kobbie Mainoo.
