Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers has the chance to switch clubs and move to Tottenham before the transfer window shuts

Tottenham have managed to bring in some solid players in the summer as they look to build on the Europa League success under Thomas Frank. The Lilywhites are clearly looking to endure a strong season after a disastrous Premier League campaign last time around. And it is clear to see that the players brought in will add more quality to the squad.

Thomas Frank has also made it clear that the North London club will only bring in players that will bring some value to the team. This is exactly how the transfer market should be approached, as signing players just for the sake of it will not do any good in the long-term. Despite signing six players already in the summer, there is still some time for the Lilywhites to conduct more business before the window shuts.

Spurs need to focus on signing a new #10 that could fill the void left behind by James Maddison. The England international ruptured his ACL earlier this month, forcing him to be on the side-lines for most parts of the season. To make matters worse, Thomas Frank is also going to be without Dejan Kulusevski for the time being. The Swedish attacker could’ve slotted in as Maddison’s replacement if not for his injury.

Tottenham must go all-in for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers

Tottenham have looked at Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers as a potential replacement of James Maddison. The England international has made some great strides at Villa Park under Unai Emery, and the Lilywhites have taken notice of that. Daniel Levy is looking for a cut-price deal to sign the 23-year-old, hoping that the Villans consider selling him due to their PSR issues. The only issue is that Villa have put up an asking price of £80m for his services.

Now, Gary Lineker has weighed in on Tottenham’s transfer links with Morgan Rogers. Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, Lineker said,

“I’ve seen Morgan Rogers linked with Tottenham. I’m sorry Villa fans, I think that’d be an incredible signing for Spurs. I think they [Villa] might have PSR problems.”

The football icon added,

“And given the disappointments of missing out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, I think that would more than make up for things. He’s a player.”

Gary Lineker believes that Morgan Rogers would be an ‘incredible signing’ for Tottenham if they land him. The football icon adds that Aston Villa might also be open to sell the England international, given their PSR issues currently. Lineker indicates that signing Rogers would instantly make up for the public embarrassment Spurs faced after missing out on Eberechi Eze and Morgan Gibbs-White.

Well, it is fair to say that Morgan Rogers is proving his worth on a regular basis for Aston Villa. The 23-year-old recently won the ‘PFA Young Player of the Year’ award for his heroics last season. As per Sofascore, Rogers racked up 14 goals and 13 assists in 54 appearances. This shows that the England international can make an impact in the final third of the pitch consistently.
