Luka Vuskovic could prove to be a key player for Tottenham Hotspur in the years to come

Tottenham loanee Luka Vuskovic is gaining some well-deserved recognition after managing to impress the Spurs faithful during the pre-season tour. The Croatia international managed to register a goal and an assist in his first start for the Lilywhites. And it looks like the North London club have a potential world-beater in their ranks.

Well, the talented defender initially joined the club in 2023, but he could not play for Spurs until he turned 18-years-old due to Brexit rules. However, this was a blessing in disguise for Vuskovic as he managed to secure a loan move to KVC Westerlo and became a regular starter for the club, securing some much-needed first-team minutes.

The Croatia international had stated last season that he was keen to prove his worth at N17 and compete for a place in the starting eleven. But it is fair to suggest that it would be tough for him to replace Cristian Romero or Micky van de Ven in the team, as both defenders are entering their prime years in North London.

Tottenham have a world-class talent in Luka Vuskovic

Earlier this month, Tottenham gave Luka Vuskovic the green light to complete a season-long loan move to HSV Hamburg. A lot of fans questioned the Lilywhites’ decision to loan out the talented defender. But it was later revealed that Vuskovic was keen to play elsewhere as he did not want to hinder his development by sitting on the bench and playing cup competitions at N17. This just shows that the Croatian is keen to prove his worth and be ready when the opportunity to play for Spurs presents itself.

Now, ex-manager Martin Jol has also backed the Croatian to do well at N17 in the coming years. Speaking to Football.London, Jol said,

“[Cristian] Romero could go anywhere but you feel like if he plays for a while at his top level, he will get injured. Romero is a good, decent defender, but I will tell you one thing, the guy they sent to Hamburg now – Luka Vuskovic – will be better.”

Martin Jol believes that Cristian Romero is an asset to Tottenham, but his injury issues hold him back from becoming an all-time great. However, the ex-Spurs manager believes that Luka Vuskovic will certainly be a better player than Romero in the coming years, and he will prove it by performing consistently on the biggest of stages.

All eyes will be on Vuskovic now as he looks to make his mark in the Bundesliga this season. The Croatia international will hope to continue his development in Germany, and get used to elite-level football as he aims to play in the Premier League one day. With many Spurs defenders facing an uncertain future at N17, there is a good chance that Vuskovic gets a shot at first-team football for the Lilywhites next season.
